I'm installing a new skin and for some reason I can't allocate a set of HTML templates to the skin. It shows up in Manage Skin Sets --> Edit --> drop downs, but from the Manage Skin Sets page, I don't see HTML Templates listed next to the style sheet, wrapper, etc.

Thoughts on the issue here? The template is only allocated to this one skin, so I don't think it's due to it being used in multiple places or anything like that. I've also tried both manually creating a skin set and downloading a whole XML file.

Hey there. I saw this tweet only relatively recently and have this feature enabled on my board to the "First Letter" setting. And it's groovy, except we just had a member register with a hyphenated surname for a character, and it's removing the capitalization after the hyphen. I double-checked this myself by registering with "Testing Hyphenated-Surname" to be sure it wasn't just the member making an error. Despite registering that way, I ended up with "Testing Hyphenated-surname" on the other side of the registration form.

I was able to solve this for the member by changing the username to something interim then manually entering the correct casing in the CP. The interim was necessary since the board gave an error/didn't recognize the username as a new one when only the casing was changed.

So all of this is to say I think I found a relatively minor bug. Hopefully, this post isn't a repeat and is helpful. If it is a repeat or this isn't a bug or it isn't helpful, please do delete/archive this.

Hello. I'm considering using the skin selector option for the first time, and I'm having trouble locating any documentation about exactly what it will let me do.

My understanding is that the skin selector allows members to choose between skin sets that I make available. It's also my understanding that each skin set has the following components: CSS, wrapper, macros, HTML templates.

My concern is that this doesn't include Group Icons, which I do customize for each of the skins that I design. Is there a way to set things up so that if my members switch between skins, they also get the matching group icons?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can provide answers or link to the documentation page(s) that go through all the skin selector details.

I'm interested in producing a skin that features a user-provided image as part of the overall skin. I'd like this image to be displayed in the upper left corner of every page as part of the sidebar, rather than just next to posts or on the profile page, the way a typical avatar would be. Ideally, this image would have a border and be a square image that is clipped into a pentagon shape. I'm no great shakes at coding, so I've been fiddling about on a testing site and attempting to piece this together from various tutorials I've found all over the internet.

It looks like I have the gist of what I want happening on [link removed because I'm self-conscious] now, albeit with hideous and random colors. I am using a placeholder image rather than a user-provided image.

My problem is that I can't figure out how to use the global avatar variable (<!-- |avatar| -->) or any other user variable to replace the placeholder image. I currently have that placeholder located in the CSS, and my understanding is that I can't use global or custom variables there. If I have to use those within the wrappers, I'm not sure where/how to do that, if it's possible to do with my current code, etc.

Any thoughts, insights, or advice? If someone looks at the coding and feels that while I've forced the appearance that I want, the coding itself is disastrous or will cause problems down the road, I'd also much appreciate the heads up. I'm sure there are smarter and cleaner ways to do what I'm aiming for, given that my coding is a hack job done with trial-and-error rather than actual comprehension of the code. I'm embarrassed to even post the link here, but I suppose this is the best way to learn.

Thank you in advance to anyone who replies!

First, apologies if this has been addressed previously. I looked through the first several pages of "bug reports" and saw nothing, and I tried searching this forum for "last post" and "post as," but I guess because "post" is in pretty much every thread here, I got a million irrelevant results, haha.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or something I'm doing wrong with my ACP settings, but I've noticed that when my members rely on the "post as" feature, the "last post" data doesn't get updated in the account they are "posting as." It does seem to happen sometimes, but I think that's only when the person then edits their post and saves changes. That's my theory, anyway.

This is a problem for my forum because I rely on the "The members last post was over [x] days ago..." search function in the ACP to find members who are due to be marked inactive. I end up with false positives due to the lack of updated posting stats. Even if I take the time to click on the names generated in the ACP list and view their profiles, I still see inaccurate dates. The only fix I can find is clicking on each name, then clicking on "view all posts by this user," waiting for search results, and checking dates. Which is very tedious. Even so, the feature is so useful that I'd hate to disable it entirely.

Is there a fix I can apply for this?
